The Art at Barracuda is No More

Free graffiti panels from the lot . . .

For years, the art on the building and in the parking lot of De La Barracuda on Melrose has been one of the seminal spots to get up in Los Angeles.

Indeed, it was even influential in the creation of MELROSEandFAIRFAX after we first bumped into Neckface painting a mural out front.

Well, everything changes, and the lease for De La Barracuda is now up.  There is a new tenant who is remodling, and as part of that they took down the wood panels with graffiti.  If anyone is interested, the panels are resting in the parking lot at Barracuda this morning (Saturday).  Be prepared to grab them, as they are quite big--but how often does one get the chance to bring home an actual piece of graffiti from the walls?  Not sure who the artists are, but tried to catch a shot of the burner resting face down on the back side.

It will be interesting to see if this still remains an art spot, once the new tenant gets settled in.
